Reflection # 9: The Incarnation of God

I chose the Christmas carol 'O Come All Ye Faithful'. If I had to compare it to the movie 'The Nativity Story' and decide which part of Jesus' life it represents, I would say it represents the part where Jesus is born to Joseph and Mary in the shed and The Lord/The Trinity is shining light down on the shed in Bethlehem. This is where everyone surrounding Bethlehem look at the ray of light shining down on the shed from their village and observe in curiosity. 'O Come All Ye Faithful' had three verses and I chose to read the first verse which is:
O Come All Ye Faithful
Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him,
Born the King of Angels;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

In the poem, in this verse, I think the 'Him' represents baby Jesus and the poem verse is a chorus playing right when Jesus is born and everyone in the surroundings are curious as to what is happenning. The chorus would be inviting everyone to Bethlehem to see the Kinf of Angels, Baby Jesus.
With the reading of Phillipians, reading my chosen Christmas carol and watching 'The Nativity Story' i would say Christmas is not only the celebration of the birth of Christ but also an enlightenment because after the birth of Jesus, all the sufferings came to an end. During Christmas, not only do people rejoice about the birth of Christ but as well as the joy and happiness filled in history because of the birth of Baby Jesus. In the movie, Jesus was described as the answer or the cure to all the sufferings because most of the movie was based on the experience of Joseph and Mary travelling to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus. According to the poem I chose, Jesus is the 'King of Angels', 'The Lord' and 'The Father'. According to 'The Nativity Story' I think Jesus is pretty much similar to the poem 'The King of Angels' or maybe 'The end of sufferings'. Mary and Joseph are very important in 'The Nativity Story' because of their journey to Bethlehem for the birth of Babu Jesus. The shepherds are important because they permitted Mary and Joseph to give birth to Baby Jesus in the shed which was a comfortable and safe location for Jesus to be born. The Persian Astrologers were also an important part of the movie. Jesus is described as the miracle of life and the end to sufferings. Everyone looks up to Baby Jesus because he is the saviour. Jesus came to Earth as a Baby unlike other Gods who were born and then became a God. That is the reason why Mary and Joseph play a big part in the Christian religion because they knew about the birth of Saviour Jesus.
